Random Access Memory(RAM)

RAM:-

Random Access Memory is used in the PC for its primary memory.RAM is where all active programs and data Store so that they are readily   available and easily accessed by the CPU and other component of PC. When you execute program on your PC.A copy of your program is copied into RAM from whatever secondary storage it is an usually the hard disk once is in RAM the instructions that make up the program are based passed one at a time to the CPU for execution .
·        Types
->The two most common types of RAM used in desktop  computer  today are SRAM (Static RAM) and  DRAM(Dynamic RAM).
->Notebook computers use SODIMMS (Small Outline DIMMS) which take up less space then desktop
                 Memory
·        Compability:-
->Choice of RAM determined by the types of RAM compatible with the board
Example:
->       A motherboard designed to use DDR RAM will not accept DDR2 RAM.
->Important to closely examine motherboard specification for CPU and RAM before making a purchase.

Capacity:-
->Different Operating System can address various amount of RAM
->The majority of 32bit version of modern Microsoft Windows Operating System can address up to 4GB of RAM
->64bit version of Microsoft Windows Operating System can address 8GB or more of RAM depending on specific addition

In early 2012, a new Mac might be equipped with 4 GB of memory and a hard drive whose storage capacity is 500 GB. The primary reason for this great disparity is cost. Memory, RAM, is much more expensive then hard drive storage space.
